"I, Too, Sing, America" tone thesis

The poem, "I, Too, Sing America." by Langston Hughes, the tones of determination and confidence show the man's reluctance to be shunned by others he believe is of equal status. The quotation "They'll see how beautiful I am." shows the man is optimistic that people will one day see him as an equal. I also sense some pride coming from him too, in the sense that he does not want to eat in the kitchen, he wants to eat at the table with the rest of the company that is over.
